Where are my Cloud servers physically hosted?

All the Cloud servers are hosted in one of our data centres in Brussels. Read more about our high quality infrastructure.

What are the most common uses of the servers in the Combell Cloud?

A virtual server is used for several applications. Generally, our customers use it for hosting websites, databases or other applications.

How can I upgrade or downgrade? How does invoicing work?

With our Public Cloud, it is possible to increase or reduce your capacity on a monthly basis. After your request, this change is active from the next monthly period. The invoicing takes these configuration changes into account.

Which service level guarantees are possible?

With our Public and Private Cloud Hosting, we offer 5 service levels. The higher the service level, the more tasks Combell performs and the higher the guarantees that we offer. With an advanced Service Level Agreement (SLA), you can e.g. benefit from a guaranteed recovery waiting time and access to senior support.

Which operating systems are compatible with the Combell Cloud?

Our Public Cloud is compatible with the most common versions and distributions of Windows and Linux (Debian, Centos, Redhat, etc.).

How fast is my server available in the Public Cloud?

Since the infrastructure is already available, your virtual server is delivered fast. Combell has several clean installations with the most common Linux and Windows distributions and versions. A delivery 24 hours after your order is thus perfectly possible.

What is the difference between Cloud Servers and traditional Dedicated Servers?

The problem with a traditional Dedicated Server is that you must know in advance what your situation will be with your website, database or application in 4 years. So, you have very little flexibility. You also pay from the very beginning for capacity that you may need only during the first months, or even never. This problem does not arise with Cloud Hosting. The entry threshold is very low and you can increase or reduce your capacity each month. This way, you can face busy seasons or certain marketing actions more easily.

What is the difference between VPS Cloud, Public Cloud and Private Cloud?

You will find a complete overview of all the differences in our comparative table.
VPS Cloud is actually an entry-level Cloud server. The processor and the software are shared with other virtual machines, which means that isolation is limited. With the Public Cloud, you connect to our VMware-based Cloud. So, you use our infrastructure, but you are completely separated from the other customers. With an own Private Cloud, we design a completely own Cloud environment for your company. If desired, our shared environment can still be used for some elements (e.g. firewall).

What is Cloud Hosting and virtualisation?

Cloud Hosting is based on the concept of virtualisation. This technology breaks the direct dependence between the software and the hardware on which this software is run. The idea of cloud computing is indeed not to focus on hardware, but on what your application or website needs: memory, processing power, storage capacity and bandwidth. The cloud represents the Internet and the elements and the actions that do not pass via one single machine or server.
