Optimization of resources done right. The first step towards reaching the full potential of your server farm is to load each server equally. And it is an art we are good at. Multi-layer balancing makes sure your servers take on even tasks on network level (balancing based on IP address) but on application level as well. With smart load balancing you get more stability, increased availability of service and easier, smarter scalability of your setup.
Your load balancer catches all incoming traffic requests and distributes them internally among the machines in your server pool. In level 3 balancing, instead of leaving it to chance, the load balancer keeps track which server is free to take and perform a task in any given moment and allocates jobs to it – guaranteeing that users will be served as quickly as possible and no single server will be overloaded, timing out and blocked. Based on your project’s needs we create together a solution that servers you best and offers you great flexibility to grow and succeed.
Application level load balancing, also called Level 7 load balancing, is even smarter in distributing traffic and achieves even higher resource optimization. The reason is Level 7 LB allocates traffic based on its purpose. The balancer reads the message and, based on the requested information, directs the user to the server that has the data – images and video are taken from servers optimized for static content, and application data i.e. an update of prices or order status is taken from the application server.
Determining points of failure
Are you expecting a traffic peak, like when you sell tickets or launch marketing campaigns? Then, it is essential to assess in advance whether your hosting can handle that load. Each of the key factors will be put to the test to challenge its limits in multiple scenarios. The result is a full capacity report. The analysis tells you how and when your system can fail you and serves as a base for potential upscaling of your project. In concrete terms, we gradually deploy virtual machines that start ruthlessly “attacking” your application. Depending on your peak expectations, the simulation mimics the behaviour of tens of thousands of simultaneous users. The test is performed until we find a point of failure or reach an unreasonably high amount of users for your expectation.
Our team wants to know your expectations of the peak scenario – what numbers and behaviour you need to be able to handle.
A detailed plan is outlined on how the test will be carried out
Results are discussed with you.
Check if simple adjustments change the results.
After you have made you adjustments based on our feedback, we will rerun the test.
You receive advice on possible changes that need to be implemented in order to handle your expected traffic.
