Add an extra domain name to your hosting package as alias

Linking an extra domain name to your hosting package can be done in several ways.
If you just want to add an extra domain name, this is called an alias domain (see below).
If you want to add an extra website with an extra domain name. Read this: Put multiple websites on one hosting package

To add a domain, follow these steps in the control panel:

  1. Go to “My products”> “Web hosting”> Click on “Manage hosting” next to the desired package.
  2. In the menu on the left, choose “Domain names & SSL”.
  3. To the right, click on “Manage website” and choose “+ Add a domain name” in the dropdown, see the image.
  4. Now enter your (sub) domain name and click on “Add a domain name”.
Do you get a message that you need to add a TXT record?
Copy the TXT record and add it to your domain name via the control panel of your domain name provider. Try again 15-30 minutes later to add the domain name.

After adding your domain name, you adjust the A records (and AAAA records) of your domain name to the IP address of your hosting package. You do this on the control panel of your domain name provider.

  • A-record:
    Hostname: Your added domain name
IP-address: The IP address of your hosting package
    TTL: 3600
  • AAAA-record (only if your hosting package also has an IPv6 address)
    Hostname: Your added domain name
IP-address: The IPv6 IP address of your hosting package
    TTL = 3600

You can find the IP address on the Overview of your hosting package or via “Domain names & SSL”> “Manage website”.
