Do I have root access via SSH to my virtual server?

Sure. You have the full management rights for your virtual server. With SSH (Secure Shell) root access, you can create a secure connection to your server via the freeware Putty or via Terminal Services for Windows servers.

Can I myself install applications on my virtual server?

Absolutely! Since you have the full management rights (root access), it is perfectly possible to install any application on your virtual server.

Which SLA applies to the VPS services?

No specific Service Level Agreement (SLA) applies on VPS (Virtual Private Server) hosting. Just as with the other Combell services, you automatically benefit from our best service 24/7.

Are e-mail backup (fallback mail server) and a secondary DNS available for VPS?

At Combell, for € 25/year per domain name, you benefit from our DNS services with your Virtual Private Server. For e-mail backup, the cost depends on the number of mailboxes linked to your domain name. Contact us for a personalised offer. Do I automatically get support with a Virtual Private Server?

No, by default, you do not get support for the configurations on your Virtual Private Server. However, you have the possibility to sign a Support contract. In that case, you pay 50 euros per month and get 1 hour of efficient support per month. If you do not want to enter a Support contract, but still want Combell to configure your Virtual Private Server, you will then have to pay 90 euro per hour.

What are the applicable rates if I exceed my authorized amount of data traffic?

Up to 250 Gb of data traffic per month: € 1.50/Gb per month
From 250 Gb to 500 Gb of data traffic per month: € 1.00/Gb per month
From 500 Gb to 750 Gb of data traffic per month: € 0.75/Gb per month
From 750 Gb to 1000 Gb of data traffic per month: € 0.50/Gb per month
From 1000 Gb to 5000 Gb of data traffic per month: € 0.30/Gb per month
From 5000 Gb to 10000 Gb of data traffic per month: € 0.20/Gb per month
From 10000 Gb of data traffic per month: € 0.15/Gb per month

How much does an extra IP address cost?

For an extra IP address, at Combell, you pay only € 2/month.

Can I purchase more memory or disk space for my VPS?

Do I get a rebate if I rent several virtual servers?

How many VPS customers do you host on 1 physical server?

That depends on the specifications and the operating system of the virtual servers. But do not worry; Combell will make sure that you always benefit from the best service and the highest quality.

On which physical server will my VPS be installed?

All our virtual servers run on DELL PowerEdge 2950 servers with Intel Dual Xeon 1.86 GHz Clovertown Quad Core processors. This means that 8 processors are available for every physical server. Each server has 16 to 24 GB of RAM. Hard drives are configured in a RAID setup and the disk space is more than sufficient. When a hard disk crashes, another one (with the exact same contents) immediately takes over.

For which files and folders do you create backups?

At Combell, all your files and folders are backed up. Every time, an exact copy of the entire system is made. Even restoring 3-day old backups is not a problem at all.
