As a partner, do you already use the Combell API to automate the management of your hosting environment? In that case, we have some good news for you: we recently added many new features to it. In this article, you will discover the new (and future) features available in the API.

What's the Combell API, again?

Combell API for partnersA quick recap for our partners who have not yet discovered the Combell API and its advantages... As a Combell partner with a reseller platform, you manage your hosting environment and services in the control panel. Creating new accounts, registering domain names, creating mailboxes, managing SSL certificates, managing settings, etc. All these processes require a lot of manual work.

Combell's API (Application Program Interface) allows you to automate all these processes. This means that you save a lot of time.

Find out how the API works and learn more about its benefits in the article "Automate your Reseller hosting using our new API".

What's new?

New in the Combell API for partnersIn order to make things as easy as possible for our partners, we continue to expand the functionality of the Combell API. For this purpose, we take the feedback from users into account in our development roadmap. Below, you will find an overview of the latest features of the API.

New API features:

  • Mailbox management: Configuring, adding and deleting mailboxes, setting passwords.
  • Mail zone management: Configuration of “catch all”, antispam and SMTP domains.
  • MySQL database management: Creating and deleting databases and adding, editing and deleting users.
  • DNS management: In addition to A and CNAME records, the API now also supports ALIAS and TLSA records.
  • Domain management: Determine whether a domain should be renewed annually or not.
  • Linux hosting scheduling: Scheduling scripts with a date in the future.

Did you know that you can view all updates and new features of the API yourself? A few months ago, we started offering a change log in the API documentation, which provides an overview of all the changes made to the API. From this change log, you can easily access the corresponding configuration details.

What API features can you expect in the near future?

The API is constantly evolving with a clear goal in mind. Ultimately, we want you – as a hosting partner – to be able to build your own interface, on which your end customers can enable and manage the necessary services themselves. The Combell API then serves as the underlying driver for automatic implementation.

The next features we will add concern the management of SSL certificates. This means you will soon be able to request and download SSL certificates and assign them to the right domains.

In the future, you will also be able to specify a range of authorised IP addresses on which the necessary API scripts can run. This will make it easier to use the API from different systems.
