New domain fraud alert

In a previous post, we already told you about the people who are referred to as domain frauds. We again received a number of reports from customers who received an e-mail message from an Asian registration company. The message claims that somebody requested the registration of their brand name in Asia, under all its possible domain name extensions. This type of message is nothing less than a sneaky way to convince you to register with the fraudulent company. In 99.99% of the cases, this alleged interested party does not exist.

COMBELL has received such messages as well. Here’s an example of one of these fraudulent e-mails.

Dear CEO,

We are a domain name registrar centre in HongKong, and in charge of the registeration in Asia,We have something important need to confirm through your company.

On the Jul. 14, 2008, we received an application formally. One company named " Overlade Group '' applied for following:

Internet Brand Name:
Combell

And the Domain Names:
combell.tw
combell.com.tw
combell.hk
combell.com.hk
combell.co.in
combell.co.kr
combell.sg

After our initial examination, we found that the Internet Brand Name and Domain Name applied for registration are as same as your company's name and trademark. These days we are dealing with it. If you do not know this company, we doubt that they have other aims to buy these domain names. Now we have not finished the registration of Overlade company yet, Because of these domain names relate to you company's trade mark,Intellectual property, and patent in the internet.so I think these domain names are very important for you.in order to deal with this issue better, Please contact us by telephone or email as soon as possible.If you are not in charge of this please transfer this email to appropriate dept.Thanks for your cooperation !
