AMS-IXOn 22 August 2013, we proudly published an article on our blog about the fact that we now have direct peerings with AMS-IX. Combell chose to directly link their own infrastructure to AMS-IX, because it offers many benefits. By having the infrastructure under control and not working with an intermediary, as it is often the case, Combell also offers more transparency within its network. For more information about what peerings exactly are and what they are used for, you can read this article.

Back then, we announced that the capacity between our Belgian and Dutch data centres was no less than 1 Gbit/s, but due to huge success we upgraded to 10 Gbit/s. That was actually necessary, because a large portion of all the Combell traffic is now routed via our new link to AMS-IX. So, this is a definite success story.

Once again, this upgrade proves how fast Combell’s network grows, and an increasing number of people go for the quality for which it stands. In order to continue this growth, Combell has some other major plans for 2014. Stay tuned!
