How do I create a referral e-mail address?

To create your own e-mail address, you do not necessarily need your own mailbox with Combell . You can create an e-mail address at which you have the e-mails forwarded to an existing e-mail address. This is called an e-mail alias.

Create e-mail address with forward to another, existing e-mail address

Create an e-mail address that forwards the e-mails with an e-mail alias. The mails then arrive in another existing mailbox.

Follow these steps in the control panel:

  1. Go to “My products”> “E-mail hosting”> Click on “Manage e-mail” next to the domain name for which you want to set up an e-mail forward.
  2. Select “Aliases” in the menu on the left and after that, click on “Add”. mail forwards
  3. Enter the data as follows to create your e-mail address (alias) (see image):
    • E-mail address : Enter your desired e-mail address.
    • Destination : Enter the e-mail address to which you want to send the e-mails from your new e-mail address. add mail forward
  4. Confirm and your e-mail forward (alias) is active.

Note that free mailboxes from Microsoft and Google (@hotmail.com, @gmail.com) are increasingly blocking such a mail forward.
A mail forward works best if the destination is a mailbox with your own domain name (e.g. jonas@jouwdomeinnaam.be).

Set e-mail address/forward if you use Exchange

With Exchange, creating an e-mail alias is slightly different.

Follow these steps in the control panel:

  1. Go to “My products”> “E-mail hosting”> Click on “Manage” next to the domain for which you want to set up an e-mail forward.
  2. Select “Contacts” in the menu on the left.
  3. Create a new contact. Enter the details and check that you want to create an alias for this contact.
You then have the option of creating an email address that will be forwarded to the external email address (see image).
    • External e-mail address : Enter the e-mail address to which you want to send the e-mails from your new e-mail address.
    • Destination : Enter your desired e-mail address here.
  4. Add the contact and your e-mail address (alias) is active.
