Senior Legal Counsel

team.blue, the parent company of Combell, is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to be stationed at our Ghent office in Belgium. This Legal Counsel will oversee and manage the provisioning of all legal services to team.blue. This person will be the single point of contact and responsible for orchestrating all legal efforts within the group, with respect to group matters.
The parent company team.blue is a leading digital enabler for companies and entrepreneurs. The group was created by merging Combell Group, TransIP Group and Register Group in 2019. team.blue serves over 2 million customers in Europe and has more than 1,100 experts to support them. Its goal is to shape technology and provide powerful digital services for businesses worldwide.

The Role

  • Oversees and manages the provision of all legal services to the company, ensuring maximum protection of its legal rights whilst maintaining its operations within the limits prescribed by law
  • Oversees both internal and external legal advice and is responsible for the coordination on relevant Group matters
  • Responsible for streamlining governance within the entire Group: delegation of authorities, risk management approach,
  • Responsible for Corporate housekeeping: group structure / shareholder matters / optimisation of legal entities structure
  • Analyses, reviews contracts of different nature: suppliers / advisors / …
  • Oversees GDPR compliance - Group
  • Handles legal HR matters
  • Handles insurance matters
  • Takes care of Board matters and follow-up
  • Coordinates legal DD exercise in M&A projects
  • Follow up on the law regulation in our sector
  • Oversees the review, research, interpretation, and preparation of both written and oral opinions on a wide variety of legal issues.

Candidate profile

  • Advanced legal management experience in a corporate environment
  • Knowledge of the range of applicable laws and regulations which impact on all facets of company policy and operations.
  • Demonstrable comprehension of complex legal issues and trends in area of expertise.
  • Clear understanding of business operations and the systems, processes, departments, and functions that drive profitable growth.
  • Ability to develop and implement legal strategies and solutions.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with superior oral & written communication.
  • Savviness to interpret financial information and its impact on the business; ability to substantiate any strategic legal decisions with financial data and results.
  • Strategic vision of the future and its legal implications based on a robust analysis of environmental trends, internal resources, and the organisation’s mission and values.
  • Experience overseeing a multinational legal program would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Absolute "team player" mentality to coach and mentor an international team.

  • Incisive leader with sound judgement; must have the credibility, intellectual capacity and operational grip to gain immediate respect with the leadership team and shareholders.
  • Excellent communicator who become an ambassador, assisting in deliver strategy.
  • High levels of emotional intelligence
  • Strong team orientation, building relationships across the organisation.
  • Active engagement with the broader business, whilst maintaining sufficient distance that is required due to the independent nature of the legal framework.
  • Ability to build trust and momentum with the team and colleagues, displaying a shared sense of purpose.
  • An ego well under control, paired with unassailable ethics and integrity.
