In this article we explain how to connect via your computer by using Putty (Windows) or Terminal (Mac OS X).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also read: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.combell.com\/en\/help\/kb\/create-an-ssh-key-to-log-in-to-your-hosting-via-ssh-without-a-password\/\">Make an SSH connection with an SSH key<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>IN THIS ARTICLE:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"#one\">Step 1: Search for the command in the control panel<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#two\">Step 2: Run the command on your computer<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"one\">Step 1: Search for the command in the control panel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Follow these steps in the <a href=\"https:\/\/my.combell.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">control panel<\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>Go to &#8220;My products&#8221;> &#8220;Web hosting&#8221;> Your domain name.<\/li><li>In the menu on the left you choose &#8220;FTP &amp; SSH&#8221; > &#8220;SSH&#8221;.<br>Don&#8217;t see &#8220;SSH&#8221;? Then your package does not have SSH access. Upgrade to a larger package if you want to use this.<\/li><li>On the right upper corner, switch on SSH so that you can connect.<\/li><li>You will now see the data to connect to Windows and Mac\/Linux (see image).<br><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.combell.com\/en\/help\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screenshot-2021-11-30-at-11.39.45-1024x471.png\" alt=\"activate ssh\" class=\"wp-image-19519\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"two\">Step 2: Run the command on your computer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you have the command, you must enter it on your computer to connect via SSH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-tabs wp-block-hb-tabs\"><ul class=\"wp-block-hb-tabs__nav\" role=\"tablist\"><li class=\"wp-block-hb-tabs__head\" data-tab=\"tabs-0\" data-hb-tabs-tab--state=\"active\"><span class=\"wp-block-hb-tabs__head_item\" for=\"tab0\">Windows<\/span><\/li><li class=\"wp-block-hb-tabs__head\" data-tab=\"tabs-1\" data-hb-tabs-tab--state=\"inactive\"><span class=\"wp-block-hb-tabs__head_item\" for=\"tab1\">MacOS<\/span><\/li><\/ul><div id=\"tabs-0\" class=\"wp-block-hb-tabs__content\" role=\"tabpanel\" data-hb-tabs-tab--state=\"active\"><p><br><strong>Follow these steps on your Windows computer:<\/strong><br>1. Download and install Putty on your computer.<br>2. Open Putty and click on &#8220;Session&#8221; in the menu on the left.<br>3. Enter the command from the control panel and click on &#8220;Open&#8221; (see image).<br>4. Enter the password of your primary FTP user. Open &#8220;Terminal&#8221; and enter the command from the control panel.<br>2. Terminal will ask to connect. Type &#8220;yes&#8221; and confirm with enter.<br>3. Enter the password of your primary FTP user. You are connected to your web hosting.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\"><strong>Does the command from the control panel not work?<\/strong><br>Replace everything after the @ with your backup SSH host. It is in the same screen on the control panel in light grey.
