Microsoft ASP (Active Server Pages) is a script language for making dynamic internet websites. It works together perfectly with databases such as MS Access or MS SQL.

Microsoft .NET technology is the successor to standard ASP scripting and a part of the .NET framework. At this moment, COMBELL uses version V1.1.4332 for all Windows servers.

Coldfusion 8 is Adobe's scripting language for writing interactive, dynamic internet applications. The integrated CF8 environment consists of Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver.

This option is available for each Windows hosting package at 50 EUR per year.

PHP is the ultimate programming language for internet applications. It is relatively easy to work with, there is plenty of online documentation and help available and it works perfectly together with MySQL.

COMBELL offers PHP version 4.3.2. PHP scripts can be recognised by their .php extension, or sometimes .PHP3 or .PHP4.

CGI/Perl CGI/Perl has proven its efficiency as web programming language for many years. Of course COMBELL offers this technology too.

CGI/Perl is usually associated with Linux/Unix instead of Windows hosting. For our customers who want to use some CGI/Perl modules anyway, we installed ActivePerl on the Windows servers. You can use your CGI/Perl scripts anywhere within the www-root of your hosting.

CGI or Perl scripts can be recognised by their extension .cgi or .pl.

SSI (Server Side Includes) is an extension to the HTML language that allows you to include files (text or html) in other HTML documents, for example to show the time and date, etc...

Suppose you want to add something to all of your HTML pages. However, this should be easy to change later, without having to edit every single HTML-file (e.g. adding a header and footer to each page). With SSI, you can add this to all of your HTML pages and change/update it later very easily.

HTML pages, using SSI, can be recognised by the extension .shtml.
