MySQL is a client/server side database server. It has been developed especially for web applications and it is especially known for its speed, efficiency and extensive documentation.

There is no limit to the number of MySQL databases, as long as you stay within the total webspace (5 GB in this case) of your hosting package.

If necessary, the MySQL configuration itself can be adapted. You have complete root rights of the MySQL server within your hosting package, thanks to the unique COMBELL VDS hosting packages. There is no limit to the number of MySQL users, who can all have their own permissions.

Basically, the MySQL databases are only accessible via local scripts, delivered with the hosting package. Perhaps, you would also like to manage your MySQL remotely or synchronise it with e.g. your MS SQL database or MS Access database locally? No problem! As an option, you can request a "Unique IP-address", which will cost 50 EUR per year. Then your MySQL server can also be managed remotely.

The current MySQL-version on COMBELL Linux servers is 4.1.20.

This extended software package enables you to manage all your MySQL databases via a webbased interface. You can create/change databases, tables, records, queries etc... all from within your webbrowser.

PostgreSQL is - like MySQL - a client/server side database server. This database is more for advanced users, as it needs to be managed through a command line interface.

In each of our Linux hosting packages, you can create an unlimited number of these databases, as long as you don't exceed your total webspace limit.
