Advanced backup
Unlike with Basic Backup, with Advanced Backup, performing and restoring backups is entirely performed by Combell. Combell uses specialised software to perform daily backups of the Customer's server. All files (including the operating system, additional installed software and configurations such as write permissions) are saved to the chosen backup storage. This depends on the type of backup chosen in the contract. The backup schedule is determined and managed by Combell. Every night, a backup will be performed on the Customer's server, unless stated otherwise in the contract.
Since a backup of the Customer's system is performed every day, backups cannot - under normal circumstances - be older than 24 hours. So, the most the Customer can lose is 24 hours of data.
If the backup of the Customer's server failed, Combell's system managers will be notified about this by e-mail in the morning. In such an exceptional case, the Customer's backup can be maximum 48 hours old.
The recovery time of the entire system strongly depends on the amount of data and the number of files that need to be restored. By using differential backups, Combell tries to minimise this duration as much as possible.
