Spam or not?
Checking via official "blacklists"
On Internet, lists are published of senders that are known to spread spam messages. All mails sent by one of these senders are automatically erased by our system. Combell uses the blacklists provided by Spamhaus.org.
Bayesian filter
The Bayesian algorithm allows to detect spam via an extremely advanced and intelligent system based on certain patterns present in the e-mail messages. This filter, which is equipped with artificial intelligence, is entirely trained by Combell by means of numerous existing spam messages. The content of every e-mail is analysed and a certain spam value is attributed to it. If this value exceeds 5, the e-mail is automatically erased and does not reach your mail server. E-mail with a value of 3 or more is sent to your mail server but is marked with a [SPAM] tag in the subject line.
Checksum technology
We check how many times a certain word or e-mail appears on our mail server. If a certain number is exceeded, the e-mail message is identified as spam. The system keeps a database with frequently used words from already registered spam messages.
Verification of the message's authenticity
By applying certain algorithms, we filter according to the authenticity of a message; checks are e.g. performed on the existence of the sender.
Rate verifications
Our system detects when your mailbox is bombarded with large quantities of spam messages. Subject matters here are DoS attacks and "dictionary spam" attacks.
Software updates
The software that performs the scan is updated daily by our software supplier. Thus, we can guarantee you that Combell is always on top of the latest developments.
