What is push e-mail?

Push e-mail can be compared with the mail that your postman puts every day in your mailbox. So, you do not have to log in and pick up your e-mails yourself.

It is a technology that synchronises your e-mail with your mobile phone or PDA. Your e-mails are sent or "pushed" automatically and in real time to your e-mail client. Combell is responsible for this.

Push e-mail requires a permanent connection with the mail server. Your telecom provider is responsible for this.

What is pull e-mail or ActiveSync e-mail?

With ActiveSync e-mail or pull e-mail, it is as if you regularly went to the post office to pick up your mail yourself.

When you configure your Exchange mailbox on your mobile phone or smartphone, with Microsoft ActiveSync, you can even set the intervals at which a connection is made with the server. It is as if you pulled your e-mails from the server. Unlike push e-mail that requires your smartphone to be permanently online, pull e-mail requires significantly less power and do not eat up the batteries of your HTC, iPhone 3G, Blackberry or any other smartphone as quickly.

What is Outlook Mobile Access?

Outlook Mobile Access (also referred to as OMA) makes it possible to check and manage your e-mails worldwide via your mobile phone. It is the mobile equivalent of Outlook Web Access.

If your device does not support push technology and you can only browse with it, you should use OMA to be able to consult your mail.

What is Outlook Voice Access?

With Outlook Voice Access, you call your mailbox and manage it via speech recognition technology. You can even have your e-mails read out to you and make, modify or move appointments!

What happens if I exceed my allocated storage space?

When the contents of your Business mailbox (Exchange mailbox) is about to reach your storage space limit, you will be notified about this via e-mail. Can I manage my Business e-mail via my Macintosh?

Sure, you can! Besides Microsoft Outlook, Combell also supports Entourage.

Can I import my current e-mail messages, addresses, etc. in my Business e-mail account?

Yes, you can. You can perfectly import your current mailbox in our Business e-mail (Hosted Exchange) environment. This allows you to have all your current appointments and e-mails in your new Business (Exchange) mailbox. So, you don't have to create a new agenda.

Can I archive and store items on my local computer?

That is also possible at Combell. In doing so, you will save online storage space. Note that the data that you leave online will be backed up daily by Combell. That is an additional security feature.

What about spam, viruses and spyware?

Do not worry. By default, all our Business mailboxes feature advanced antivirus software, an excellent spam filter and a powerful spyware filter. Combell, "your host on the Internet", makes sure that your e-mail traffic works without any trouble.

I have accidentally deleted an e-mail. Can I recover it?

Even if you deleted an e-mail from your deleted items, it is still possible to recover it via Outlook Web Access. Attention: this can only be done for a few hours after you deleted your deleted items.

How many e-mail aliases can I create?

With Combell's Business e-mail hosting, you can create as many aliases as you want. If you choose e.g. jack@domainname.com and jack.smith@domainname.com, all e-mails that are sent to these addresses will arrive in the same mailbox.

How do I configure my Business mailbox on my smartphone, PDA, iPhone, etc.?

Do all of my collaborators have to use the same packages?

No, you are free to choose which mailboxes your collaborators must get. You can attribute them a small or a large mailbox, according to their needs.

However, keep in mind that only Business mailboxes –no POP3 Basic mailboxes – can be created for each single domain name, except for Basic Email Plus. If you have a collaborator who doesn't need the typical push functionalities of the Business mailboxes, we offer a light version, namely POP3 Basic E-mail Plus.
