What is the difference between Basic and Business e-mail?

Basic and Business e-mail are two different e-mail hosting packages that Combell, "your host on the Internet" offers. Basic e-mail works via POP3 servers and pull e-mail, while Business e-mail works with push e-mail and Microsoft Exchange.

One of the main differences is that when you send a message with Basic e-mail via webmail, the message does not appear in your home computer's sent items. With Business e-mail, however, this is possible, since you use the same mailbox everywhere: at your office, via your laptop, your home computer, your smartphone and even via webmail when you are on vacation. Moreover, you do not have to always check if you received new e-mails, because thanks to push technology, you receive immediately the e-mails that are sent to you.

Additionally, via Business e-mail, besides your business e-mail, you can also constantly synchronise your agenda, your contacts, your tasks and your documents. If you modify an appointment via webmail, it will also be automatically modified on your local computer, since all your devices are constantly connected to our secured mail server.

I do not want any viruses, spyware or other malware in my mailbox. Is this possible?

Absolutely! Each Basic e-mail package features anti-virus software and a spam filter. However, you can also choose advanced anti-virus software and a sophisticated spam filter to protect your computer even better.

In any case, it is best to have your e-mails scanned on our servers instead of on your local computer. Combell makes sure that you do not receive any infected e-mails. That is another reason why we are "your host on the Internet".

I am on vacation or visiting a client. Can I read my e-mails?

That is perfectly possible via webmail. With Basic e-mail, you get the basic version of webmail, which allows you to check your e-mail via any Internet connection. With Basic e-mail Plus, a more advanced webmail is included, which allows you to manage your e-mails wherever you are on the planet in the same look-and-feel offered by your good old Microsoft Outlook.

Do you back up my e-mails?

Yes, indeed! Every day, we back up all e-mails and other data that are on our server. Should anything go wrong from our end, we would be able to retrieve all your e-mails directly.

However, take into account that such a server backup does not allow to restore just one e-mail. Hence, we advise you to also backup your files on your local computer.

With Business e-mail, however, you have the possibility to restore e-mails that you have accidentally deleted.

Regardless of which e-mail hosting package you choose, your data are totally safe with us. Besides regularly backing up your e-mails, we also handle your data with the utmost confidentiality.

I am temporarily unavailable. Can I set an automatic reply?

No problem! Via the user-friendly control panel, you can very easily set an out of office message. This autoresponder lets everyone who sends you an e-mail know that you are away.
