Usage of the European Top Level Domain is on the rise

During the past third quarter, the use of the domain name extension .eu has increased with 23%. That’s what EURid, the European management agency for .eu domain names reports.

During the month of September, an average of no less than 2760 new .eu domain names were registered every working day. Moreover, the number of renewals of existing .eu domain names remains higher than 80%.

According to Marc Van Wesemael, managing director of EURid, the increasing number of .eu domain names is a clear sign that the extension is gaining acceptance from citizens as well as companies.

We also read that the average registrant of a .eu domain name owns 2,6 domain names.

You can find these and other numbers in the most recent edition of the quarterly report that EURid submits to the European Commission, on the following link (opens a PDF file):  http://www.eurid.eu/images/Documents/Quarterly_reports/eurid%5C%27s%20quarterly_3-07_071116.pdf
