The European .eu domain extension is skyrocketing.

Judging from the domain name registrations, a European feeling really exists indeed.

From the most recent collected data on the number of registered .eu domain names, it appears that, with 2,6 million registrations, this extension has reached the third place on a European level.

The .eu extension is only beat to the punch by the European national TLDs .co.uk (United Kingdom, with 5 millions registrations) and .de (Germany, with 10 million registrations).

In 1 year’s time, no less than 2,574 million .eu domains were registered, of which 769.000 by German companies.

On a worldwide scale, this means that .eu has caught up with .info and is halfway (50%) with respect to .org.
