Over 2,5 million .eu domain names registered.
A little more than a year after the .eu launch, some 2.6 million .eu domain names have been sold. That makes the .eu domain a little bigger than .nl, the latter with a little over 2,3 million registrations. Within the EU .de (Germany) is still leader as far as the number of registered domain names is concerned. The United Kingdom is second and the Netherlands occupies the third place in the ranking.
Whether an internet address that ends with .eu has that special 'something' is still very questionable. Research conducted by .eu domain manager Eurid shows that more than 25 % of European internet users pay as good as no attention to the top level domain of the websites they visit, while surfing the web. Only a small 10% think a .eu-address does have 'that little extra'.
