The Turkish NIC has decided to enable support for Turkish character encoded domain names (including characters like 'ü', 'ö', 'ç' etc), and will be accepting orders starting the 4th of december 2006. Support for other languages will be added at a later stage.
The owners of registered 'com.tr' domain names will be able to apply for the Turkish representation of their ascii (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) encoded domain names until March 4th, 2007.
Applications will be assessed based on the documents submitted previously and therefore, there will be no additional documents required during registration.
On the ground of the current rules and regulations, all applications for Turkish internet addresses will be
registered on a 'first come first served' basis, without regard to the ownership and contact information of
the existing domain names.
