ICANN approves the new .tel domain extension
Even though it’s still uncertain that the new .tel domain will actually become available, Khashavar Mahdavi (CEO Telnic) is positive it will. It expects the new domain extension by the end of 2006.
Telnic is also responsible for the upcoming .mobi domain extension. The .tel contract isn’t signed yet but ICANN has already given it’s approval. Telnix intends to use this new extension to make contact information easier to access. It can be compared to the information stored in the WHOIS database but with an important difference. Users can display any contact information they wish and are able update it whenever they like.
