ICANN approves the new .mobi domain extension

The new .mobi extension will most likely be launched the second half of 2006 and will primarily be used by websites targeting mobile devices like PDA’s and mobile phones supporting an internet connection.

This domain will be handled by a Company that consists of: The GSM Association, Ericsson, Hutchison, Microsoft, Nokia, Samsung, Telefonica, T-Mobile and Vodafone. The telecom branch hopes to stimulate mobile internet.

ICANN is also working on the extensions .post and .cat. COMEBELL will inform you about these domains as soon as we know more. ICANN has recently approved .xxx as well.
