This week, the domain name america.com has switched owners for 1.7 million dollars. So that’s a tad more than pizza.com, which has recently been sold for 1.5 million dollars.

In order to ensure its growth, COMBELL has purchased several thousands of m² of land in the vicinity of the Flanders Expo site in Ghent. There, a complete Internet centre will be built. This Internet centre will harbour COMBELL’s own data centre, which will be expanded according to a modular system. Its maximum capacity will be of 15000 servers or 550 racks.

By 2010, COMBELL will also have moved its Sint-Amandsberg offices to the hypermodern Internet centre in Ghent. This centre will offer enough expansion potential to be able to continue to accommodate the growing number of people. An auditorium & conference room will offer the possibility to organize various training sessions and seminars.

Moreover, the Internet centre will make +/- 2000m² of office space available to other innovative Internet companies that wish to establish themselves by 2010.

Last October 14, SIDN (the organisation that attributes and registers .nl domain names in the Netherlands) has increased the publication frequency of its zone files to 12 times a day.

But the Russian DNS manager doesn’t want to know about this cancellation and demands that the .su extension is kept

Especially domains that already generate millions of dollars in their trade are gaining popularity

Now, Sweden will follow that example. A Sunrise period has already set in on the 4th of July 2007 in order to launch those IDN.

Russia is growing. And it shows on the Internet too. In April 2006, 500000 domain names had already been registered under the .ru TLD. By the end of 2006, this number had increased to 718000.

However, it hasn’t been possible yet for .nl domains

From the most recent collected data on the number of registered .eu domain names, it appears that, with 2,6 million registrations, this extension has reached the third place on a European level

DNS.BE (The Belgian Association for Internet Domain Name Registration) will financially intervene in the so called alternatve dispute resolution, from next year on. This procedure allows for people that have established rights to a domain name, to reclaim the domain name from anybody that has registered it

The most used and most well-known internet domain extension still is .COM. However, .IN - the allocated ccTLD for India - is catching the fancy of the internet businesses and users fast, as the numbers show, with 200,000 domains registered, that is almost double the amount of last year.
