Applications for Serbian domain names (.rs) will be accepted as from the beginning of next year
In the beginning of 2008, every interested party will be able to reserve a Serbian domain name. As from the 5th of January 2008, it will be possible to submit applications for a .rs domain.
Reminder (see previous messages): last autumn, the Serbian domain name registry (RNIDS) reported that the national Top Level Domain for the Serbian Republic would be .rs.
Until now, the domain name extension for Yugoslavia (.yu) was used for this territory.
According to the new regulations, local as well as foreign people and companies will be allowed to register an unlimited amount of .rs domains. With the .yu domain name extension, rules were much stricter. Foreign registrants must however be able to provide a local administrative contact.
The .rs domain names are due to be launched on the 10th of January, although you can already submit your applications for Serbian domain names as from the 5th of January.
