What is a co-located server ?
 
 

A co-located server is a server (computer) that you will install in the COMBELL data center. There are no other COMBELL customers using this server. You can install your own software on your server and you have all permissions on it.

What is the difference between dedicated hosting and co-location ?
 
 

For dedicated server hosting, you pay a monthly fee for the use of a complete server. This monthly fee includes the server hardware, 2 hours COMBELL staff support , 24/7 monitoring, data transfer, full installation and preparation of the server.

If you choose co-location, you buy your own server, you install the server software yourself and you have a fixed monthly data transfer at COMBELL. You can still get COMBELL staff support, but now as an option, meaning : it is not included.

The main advantage of a dedicated server against co-location:

  • no large server purchase investments
  • COMBELL support is standard included
  • purchase & storage of server hardware
  • purchase & storage of replacement parts for your dedicated server
  • hardware installation: disk controllers, disk arrays and RAM memory inclusive
  • hardware failures are monitored 24/7 and are solved according to the SLA
  • server hardware burn-in tests

Do you have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) ?
 
  Yes, we have a Service Level Agreement for dedicated hosting as well as for co-location customers. This SLA gives a clear review of the COMBELL services and clearly explains what will happen in case something should go wrong. In this SLA, you will see that COMBELL is 24/24 and 7/7 available for emerging problems.

Which are the dedicated hosting terms of payment?
 

The minimum term of payment for dedicated server hosting or for co-location is three months. When paying for a year contract, you receive a 5% discount.
