SharePoint in the Cloud: delightful carefreeness

The dealer portal of Mitsubishi is, especially in the spring after the Motor Show, a much visited application. "On the portal, dealers and importers can share information and find news. It is the backbone of our in-house communication and processes. But we are not an IT company and, therefore, we do not want to allocate too much money and manpower to run this system. Although we also do not want to compromise as far as uptime is concerned. So, the Cloud seemed to be a godsend," says Johan Vermeir from Mitsubishi Motors Belgium.

Farewell CDs and FTP

Mitsubishi Motors Belgium counts no less than 113 dealers. On average, five collaborators work at each dealer. Spreading data and collaborating in such a complex internal network is particularly difficult.

Johan Vermeir: "In the past, we shared all our files using CDs and later through the FTP server. This, of course, works. But it requires quite a lot of time to get everything right - time that we prefer to use for other activities, such as selling cars, for instance. Now that we work with SharePoint in the Cloud, all these in-house processes run in a smoother and faster manner."

The Motor Show? No problem!

Johan Vermeir: "During and after the Motor Show, our websites and applications have to process a massive stream of extra visitors. Last year, our in-house server was not powerful enough to cope with all that traffic. Instead of investing in new hardware ourselves, we chose Combell's Cloud. This way, we will be able to cope with such situations in the future without any problems."
