The .asia registry uses a ‘reserved list’. Names included in this list will not be available for registration. Names that are included in this list are (among others) geographical and political names, government authorities, domain names for the managing entity itself (registry, nic, dns, dotasia, etc.).
The .asia registry also uses a ‘blocked list’, which is a list of names that have been blocked like xxx.asia. However, the complete list of blocked names has not been made public yet. As soon as it will be, we will publish it on our website.
The .asia registry will also not allow two-letter country extensions (country codes) to be registered, like e.g. fr.asia, be.asia, de.asia, at.asia, etc.
There will be a Sunrise Period to protect companies, organisations, brand names, trademarks, etc. against domain hijackers. Click here for more information
When registering a .asia domain name, the following will not be accepted:
- Names containing other characters than 'a-z', 'A-Z', '0-9' and '-', or that start or end with '-'
- Names of less than two (2) or more than sixty-three (63) characters
- Names with a '-' on the third and fourth position (e.g. www.ex--ample.asia)
- Names that have already been registered (‘First come, first served’ principle) or domain names that have been put ‘on hold’. A domain name will be put ‘on hold’ as soon as a legal procedure pertaining to it has been launched, be it before a court or elsewhere.
After the Sunrise period, all .asia domain names will be accepted, except for the abovementioned exceptions. There's no kind of proof required to register a .asia domain name after the Sunrise period..
