10 years of Combell, 10 years of expertise

Ghent, 18 May 2009 – The hosting company Combell celebrates its tenth anniversary. But, for Combell, 2009 will not only be a jubilarian year: it will also be a very special year for the country’s largest independent hosting company. As a matter of fact, Combell has new offices near Ghent, opened an additional data centre and launched a new website and a new company logo.

“About 10 years ago, I started Combell from my bedroom. It is when I went searching for a domain name and the corresponding webspace for my parents that I noticed that the number of providers in Belgium was very limited”, says Jonas Dhaenens, CEO and founder of Combell. “A new company was born. I quite rapidly hired the first of the 40 collaborators that Combell employs today”.
Combell evolved from a hosting company for individuals and self-employed to a true “hosting factory” that focuses mainly on the large professional hosting market. For quite some time now, there is the specific section for Enterprise projects, in the context of which Combell develops the entire server architecture in consultation with the customer, especially for business critical applications and websites with custom solutions, such as virtualisation, redundancy, failover systems, etc.

New website, house style and logo
“Our new website (www.combell.com) is a nice example of Web 2.0 and is clearly divided per product category. To emphasize our expertise in Enterprise and Managed hosting, we planned a separate section. Moreover, we will soon launch a section for IT starters, where we will provide explanations about our products in understandable language. Meanwhile, people who are uninitiated to IT will be welcomed on an introduction page and redirected to the IT Professional section. As far as new services are concerned, we particularly emphasize our renewed dedicated server range with unique Service Level Agreements (SLAs) at competitive rates. Additionally, the 3 proposed versions can be delivered within 24 hours. Service remains our most important asset, which is underlined through our new slogan: “- Your host on the Internet -”, explains Christophe Van den Bulcke, Marketing Manager at Combell.

Intensive support of our resellers
With over 800 resellers, channel sales are an important mainstay at Combell. “That is why this section is very comprehensive on our website. Furthermore, we also actively support our resellers in their sales and marketing by means of our white labelled reseller solutions”, adds Van den Bulcke.

New data centre in Brussels (Zaventem) with unique multi-data centre technology
Since this month, Combell has a multi-data centre concept, where the network is distributed over 2 different physical locations, linked to each other via a redundant dark fibre ring, but that behaves as 1 logic network. With this, Combell now has 3 data centres in Vilvoorde, Diegem and Zaventem, while waiting to have its own data centre in Ghent.

International plans
Not only is its website available in three languages, but Combell has also other international plans. “We have had many Dutch people among our loyal customers for several years. That is why, from this year on, we would like to be more active on the Dutch market. We notice that our service has a great power of attraction. Hence our choice to launch targeted campaigns and to have a local establishment in the Netherlands”, says Tom De Bast, Business Development Manager.

New office buildings
Last but not least, the whole Combell team moved to a new office building, located Skaldenstraat 121, in Ghent. The previous building had become too small and the new one offers much more space, but also a huge conference room (for congresses related to the Internet world) and better parking facilities.
